Vision for Learning News
How do you engage students and get them to take risks as they learn a new language? Upper School Chinese teacher Betty Hu has figured it out with a new project, The Voice of China. The project is a reenactment of NBC's The Voice, but this version includes test questions and songs in Chinese.
The project functions much like the television show, with each student singing a song to three teachers with their backs turned. The teachers turn around when they hear a song or voice that they like. The students then answer questions posed by the three teachers about Chinese songs. After the questions have been answered, each student joins the team of one of the teachers. The three teams then learn a song together and create a music video to share with the class. Collaboration, creativity, communication...and lots of laughter and fun.
