Photography in Mexico

This July, Upper School photography teacher Karey Walter, teaching assistant and professional photographer Maddie Park '10, and nine students traveled to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico for a 10-day advanced photography class. This is the third year that Lovett has offered a documentary photography class in Mexico, and it's always a big draw. Students spend their days exploring the Guanajuato region of Mexico, capturing the sights, sounds, and culture of central Mexico. The group stays at a beautiful private home in San Miguel and students spend their evenings in critique sessions and reflection. For as much as the students learn about photography, they learn even more about engaging others in conversation, asking questions, seeing another culture with fresh eyes, and respecting different ways of life.
