Sarah Dorian holds a bachelor of music degree in cello performance from Vanderbilt University with a full Honors Scholarship, as well as a masterʼs of music degree in cello performance and literature from the University of Notre Dame with a full scholarship and Graduate Assistantship. She also earned a masterʼs in education through Fort Hays State University, where she graduated at the top of her class and was honored to be selected to be a member of the honors society, Phi Kappa Phi. She was a featured soloist with both the Vanderbilt and Notre Dame orchestras. Sarah was a member of the Seattle Choral Company, Bellevue Philharmonic Orchestra, South Bend Symphony Orchestra, Kalamazoo Symphony, and the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra. Performing as part of the festivals orchestras at Brevard Music Center, Interlochen Center for the Arts, and Aspen Music Festival, she worked with renowned conductors including Robert Shaw. Sarah has performed solo recitals in Kansas, Tennessee, Colorado, Indiana, Washington, and Utah. While residing in Indiana Sarah was associate instructor of music at Indiana University South Bend, and one of the managers of the famed Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, where she was also mentor and coach to many young chamber groups. As an active teacher and freelance musician, she brings a creative style, powerful playing, and intense personal expression with her wherever she performs. Between teaching and performing, she enjoys drive-in movies, reading, travel, camping, kayaking and most importantly raising her fourteen-year-old son.
