Jessica Jaret Sant

Jessica Jaret Sant was named Director of College Counseling at The Lovett School in 2014; she originally joined the College Counseling team as Associate Director in 2011. Jessica is a native of Atlanta and attended The University of Georgia for both her BA in political science with a minor in mass communication and her MPA in education policy and management. Prior to Lovett, she served as an Admission Counselor at Emory University, where she coordinated on-campus programs for prospective students and directed the conditional transfer program.

Jessica joined the Southern Association of College Admission Counseling (SACAC) Board of Directors in 2013 as co-chair of the Government Relations Committee. In April 2017 she was elected to serve in the presidential cycle for the nine state NACAC affiliate. In 2011, she was honored with the SACAC Rising Star Award and in 2016 with the NACAC Excellence in Government Relations Award. She has presented at regional and national conferences and has served as a faculty member for Dry Run, Camp College, Mini Camp College, the Duke Alumni Admission Forum, and the ACCIS New Directors’ Workshop. In addition to her work with SACAC and NACAC, Jessica is a member of ACCIS and the College Board. She began her career in higher education as Assistant Director of New Student Orientation and as an Admission Counselor at The University of Georgia.

Irma Navarro Brown

Associate Director of College Counseling

Irma Janeth Navarro Brown joined the Lovett College Counseling Office in 2013. Irma was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, and raised in Chicago. She is a first-generation, cum laude graduate of Davidson College. Irma completed a Graduate Certificate in Translating and Translation Studies from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a Masters in Spanish at Georgia State University. Prior to joining the Lovett community, Irma served as an Admission Counselor at Emory University and as an Assistant Dean of Admission and Financial Aid and Associate Director of Multicultural Admission at her alma mater, where she coordinated on-campus programs, worked closely with the merit team, and helped direct the college’s multicultural recruitment goals. Irma also served as Associate Director of July Experience at Davidson College, a three-week summer program for high school students. She is a member of several professional organizations, including Atlanta Area Association of Independent Schools, Association of College Counselors in Independent Schools, National Association for College Admission Counseling, and Southern Association for College Admission Counseling. Irma has collaborated with the Latino Student Fund, helping redesign and translate the LISTO College Prep Program curriculum, serves as Co-Chair of SACAC's Atlanta Mini Camp College, was named faculty for SACAC’s Dry Run for new admission counselors and Summer Seminar for secondary counselors, and has presented at several academic and professional conferences, including the Carolina Conference for Romance Studies, the National Partnership for Educational Access, the Georgia Independent School Association, and SACAC’s Annual Conference, Mini Camp College, and Drive-In Workshop. 

Anita Alston

Associate Director of College Counseling

Anita Alston joined the Lovett College Counseling Office in 2014. Anita is originally from North Carolina where she attended Elon University. She earned her BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. After graduating from Elon, Anita joined the Office of Admission and served as an Associate Director of Admission for Territory Management where she served as the supervisor for Admission Counselors and Assistant Directors, Chair for the Elon Engagement Scholarship, admission representative for the southeast region of the United States, and member of the Application Review Committee. Later she earned an MS in Higher Education from Drexel University. Anita was named to the Southern Association of College Admission Counseling (SACAC) Board of Directors in 2013. She has served as Extending the Dream Professional Grants Chair, Admissions Practices Co-Chair, and Co-Chair for the Fiscal Oversight Committee. Additional experiences include serving as a steering committee member for PoCIS Atlanta, a counselor for the Duke University Constructing Your College Education Camp and an essay consultant for the Duke TIP Next Generation Venture Fund program.

Brian Howard

Associate Director of College Counseling

Brian Howard joined the Lovett College Counseling Office in 2015. Brian grew up in a military family, living across the United States and Europe for most of his formative years. This fostered a love of travel and cultures, which led him to study International Affairs at Northeastern University in Boston for his BA. Upon graduation, Brian joined Northeastern University’s Admissions Office, serving as an Assistant Director of Domestic and International Recruitment and as Senior Assistant Director for Domestic Recruitment, meeting with students across the United States, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. Additionally, he served as the Athletics-Admissions liaison, working closely with the Athletics Department and prospective student-athletes applying to Northeastern. Most recently, he worked as an Upper School Counselor at Atlanta International School, providing academic support and college counseling, while also coaching their Middle School and Upper School swim teams. Brian is currently completing a Master of Education degree from Northeastern University and has been a member of NACAC, SACAC, ACCIS, IACAC, and Education USA, presenting on a variety of topics at regional conferences.

Jennifer McKissick

College Counseling Office Assistant

Jennifer grew up in Athens, Georgia, and graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in journalism. After a stint in a New York public-relations firm, she served as a development coordinator at South Carolina's Governor's School for the Arts Foundation. Prior to her time at Lovett,  Jennifer served as an office manager at Avenues: The World School, in New York.
