Program Overview

Fine Arts at The Lovett School are alive and thriving, with more than 90 percent of our students participating in fine arts during the year. Encompassing both the visual and performing arts, Lovett employs 47 professional working artists who are also extraordinarily gifted teachers, and offers a comprehensive array of classes including sculpture, photography, film, painting, drawing, theater arts, technical theater, chorus, orchestra, band, jazz ensemble, dance, and many more. In addition, Applied Lessons are offered on campus for 14 instruments, as well as voice. Students have great opportunities to perform in recitals, plays, musical productions, concerts, chapel services, and school events, as well as in local and out-of-state festivals and competitions. Visual arts students have their artwork displayed both on campus and at local exhibitions. Our 650-seat Hendrix-Chenault Theater offers one of the Southeast's most impressive performance venues, while the smaller Woodward Theater, music and art rooms, studios, exhibition gallery, a recording studio, and practice modules allow for an extensive array of classes and performances.

The Fine Arts Department promotes the development of student talent, both individually and collectively, while striving to provide an education that promotes creative learning and excellence in the arts. The means to achieve these goals rests upon professional and experienced faculty and staff, superior facilities, and consistent overall growth in the Fine Arts program.
