With the conclusion of the final GHSA championship events last week, the Georgia Athletic Directors Association released the final standings in the race for the Directors Cup in each of the GHSA's classifications. Lovett finished in second place in AAA, marking the stature of the Lions' program as one of the state's most comprehensive.
Director of Athletics, Steve Franks said, "I am very proud of our collective efforts and that of our respective coaching staffs. This year marks the 14th consecutive year we have finished in the top five statewide in our classification. I think this speaks volumes about the great work that each of our coaching staffs do with our student-athletes in their respective programs."
Points are awarded for sports' placements in GHSA competitions, and the Lions finished strong with state championships in boys tennis and baseball. Also contributing strongly as state runners-up were boys golf, girls cross country, girls tennis, and girls soccer. Further point contributions were made by boys cross country, volleyball, girls basketball, both swimming and diving programs, both lacrosse programs, football, both track and field programs, softball, and boys soccer.
Congratulations to all of Lovett's student-athletes on their contributions during another outstanding school year, competing with the best.
