Lovett commenced the 96th academic year with the Opening All-School Chapel Service in the stadium for all students, faculty and staff.
Students, along with teachers, staff, parents and other members of the community, marked the beginning of Lovett's 96th year with the 2021-22 Opening Chapel. The service began with a much-loved tradition: the procession of excited new kindergarteners walking hand-in-hand with seniors.
Inspired by the service’s Bible readings, as well as the fellowship and warmth of the entire community being able to gather once again in worship on the Riverbank, Head of School Meredyth Cole spoke on the central topic of Love.
1 Corinthians 13:4–8: Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Mrs. Cole opened the school year by tasking every member of the community to make the commitment to live our lives in a way that embodies Lovett's Core Values and exhibits Love; "connection, friendship, bonds, and community are built through specific sets of behaviors - listening, respecting differences, giving, and Love."
