The Lovett School is pleased to announce the appointment of Becca Scott as the new varsity head coach for the Lovett Cheerleading program.
Becca Scott has spent the past four seasons as an assistant varsity competition cheer coach at 7A powerhouse, Newnan High School. She brings numerous years of experience as both a head and an assistant coach, as well as a competitor herself, in cheerleading programs across the state.
"Coach Scott's passion, knowledge, and vision for our cheer program will undoubtedly have a positive influence on our student-athletes both on and off the field,” said Lovett Athletic Director Adam Nelson. “As a math teacher and a coach, she represents all the great qualities of the teacher-coach model. We are thrilled to consider her part of this team."
Coach Scott helped guide Newnan to three region championships and completed the past two seasons ranked eighth and twelfth in AAAAAAA competition cheer. In addition to cheer, she also served as the head coach of the varsity girls tennis team at Newnan.
“I am so excited to join and get to know the Lovett community. I have already felt the love and support this school provides,” Scott said. “I can’t wait to share my passion for cheerleading with everyone, and I look forward to working with the program to continue its success.”
She earned her bachelor's degree in mathematics from Georgia Southern University and later earned her specialist degree from LaGrange College. She will join the math department in the Upper School this fall.
