Join Us: MLK Day Civic Lunch Discussions

Please join us on Monday, January 18 from 11:30 AM - 12:45 PM, as Lovett and Breakthrough Atlanta observe the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday by hosting a virtual “Civic Lunch.” The event will give Lovett and Breakthrough families the chance to take part in small-group conversations about issues important to Dr. King that remain relevant today. Please register using this form by 10 PM on Thursday, January 14.

Lovett's virtual Civic Lunch will draw talking points and discussion format from the Civic Dinners organization. Civic Dinners is a platform that serves to bring people together to have conversations that matter and create powerful conversations that inspire positive social change. The four topics Lovett's Civic Lunch will be focusing on are:

Allyship - This is a conversation on why we need allies, how we can be one, and the key role allies play in creating a culture where everyone can bring their whole selves to school/work.

Belonging - This is a conversation exploring our own sense of belonging, and how we can create a more welcoming school community for all.

Bridging the Racial Divide - This conversation explores how we might bridge the racial divide.

Common Ground - This conversion explores the core issues that might be considered controversial, who influences our own political views, and common values and goals we hope Americans can rally around, together.
