Currently ranked third in the state, Lovett's varsity softball team is firing on all cylinders heading towards the postseason. The Lions boast a perfect 9-0 region record and clinched their fourth consecutive region championship last week.
In her first year as head of the program, Coach Perelini Bush has led the team to an 18-2 overall record, with signature wins over higher-classification teams including Parkview, Marist, St. Pius X, and North Cobb. "Our players have shaped our program to what it is today," says Coach Bush. "They've put in the work and dedicated countless hours on and off the field to master their individual crafts and put things together as a team. I am very proud of them for taking control of every aspect of the sport and as a coach that is a beautiful thing to see. They have a goal to win it all, and as a staff, we are excited to help them get there."
Hadley Griggs, the sole senior on the squad, reached a milestone 100 career hits in a game against 7A's Parkview on Tuesday, the day after junior pitcher Peyton Kanaly threw her 300th career strikeout in a win over 6A's Houston County.
The spectator policy for softball allows for 80 fans at Brooks Field, and the team would love your support as they begin postseason play next week. Be sure to check the website for details, and get there early and ready to cheer on the Lions!
