Lovett's Ben Posten Wins National Recognition for Curriculum Design

The Global Education Benchmark Group (GEBG), an organization of K-12 schools that researches and establishes best practices in the field of global education, awarded Lovett Middle School Social Studies teacher Ben Posten the Honorable Mention in their national curriculum design contest for his 8th Grade Civic Leadership project, "Celebrating Connections to Community: What Does it Mean to be an Atlantan?" The Honorable Mention was actually 2nd place -- nationally!-- in a very competitive field assessing teacher-designed curriculum projects that intentionally and meaningfully engage students with global issues.

A shout-out to art teacher Amy Story, who was also a big part of this interdisciplinary project, in which students created and reflected on a piece of art that allowed them to explore and celebrate their personal connections to specific areas in their community and better understand people’s relationships to the places where they live.
