Schunk Among Three Finalists for Olerud

Award Highlights Nation's Best Two-Way Player

Aaron Schunk '16, currently third baseman and ace closer for the University of Georgia baseball team, has been named one of the three finalists for the 2018 John Olerud Two-Way Player Award, given annually by the College Baseball Hall of Fame.

Candidates must have at least 20 innings pitched, or six saves, while also contributing as a regular position player on their team. The original list had 25 candidates, with the first cut to nine players, and Schunk now being among the final three, one of whom will be selected for the prestigious award.

UGA posted this article on Schunk's nomination.

The Bulldogs begin play at home, Friday, at Foley Field in Athens, as the #1 seed in the NCAA Regional. Georgia, 37-19 on the season, will meet the Campbell Camels, 35-24, at 7:30 pm, on a game carried on ESPN3. The winner of that game will play the winner of Duke-Troy, Saturday, at 7:00 pm.
