The Joy of Learning

Where Love and Learning Meet

At Lovett, our students find joy and purpose in learning by doing. Guided by our distinctive approach to whole child education, Lovett faculty immerse students in intellectually rigorous, hands-on learning environments that spark character development, individual passions, and social awareness. By design, we offer students the experiences that deepen their cognitive, emotional, and social skills while inspiring an enduring enthusiasm for learning.

Mrs. Lovett believed in an education that progresses continually and keeps in step with the constant changes occurring in the world around us in order to integrate the child as a contributing member: "The progressive school considers each child an individual with special strengths and weaknesses." Today, the whole child is still at the center of a Lovett education, where an active construction of knowledge using multiple modalities builds cognitive, social, and emotional skills to motivate individual passion, self-discovery, and collective purpose.

At Lovett, our students learn to ask good questions and navigate abundant information, to develop imaginative ideas and innovative alternatives, and to forge consensus and connection within diverse groups. Lovett students feel known, seen, and safe to take considered risks, learn from challenges, and carefully think through important questions of faith and citizenship. As a result, they develop the cheerful resilience to thrive—in their time with us, in college and career, and in life itself.

A Lovett education is progressing continually in order to keep in step with the constant changes occurring in the world around us. It is a changing education for a changing civilization.Eva Edwards LovettFOUNDER
