Smart Device Policy
Students are required to secure their phones and other smart devices throughout the school day.
Research indicates that excessive screen time can adversely impact academic achievement, social growth, and mental well-being. By minimizing the continual distractions of smartphones, Lovett seeks to foster an environment where students can deeply engage in learning and develop stronger connections with their peers and educators.
At Lovett, we believe that the school day should be a time for students to immerse themselves in learning and meaningful connections. By eliminating the reach of smart devices, we are giving our kids the gift of presence - helping them to explore what it means to manage technology intentionally and focus on what truly matters.Meredyth Cole, Head of School

Feedback from Parents
Creating a balanced relationship with technology is part of nurturing the whole child experience, and Lovett’s device-free policy is a big step in that direction.
During Season 6 of Living Lovett, Host Jessica Sant, Chief Engagement Officer at the Lovett School, speaks to parents from the Lovett community about their experiences and listens to advice on adjusting to the policy. School counselors also offer practical and tactical tips for parents handling technology with their children—regardless of age.
