The Lovett School Receives Record $30 Million Gift

The Lovett School announced a record-setting $30 million gift from the Rollins Family, the largest donation in the school’s 99-year history and one of the most significant contributions ever made to an independent school in the United States.

The transformative commitment to the One Lovett Campaign will help expand faculty support, enhance student opportunities, and reimagine the campus. The gift honors Rita Anne Rollins ’72, a former Lovett student who died tragically before her junior year, and will support the creation of Rita Anne Rollins Hall—a new gathering space envisioned as the heart of campus life.

“On behalf of the entire Lovett community, I want to thank Amy Rollins Kreisler ’88, Pam Rollins ’75, and Tim Rollins ’81 for their investment in the future of Lovett,” said Meredyth Cole, Lovett Head of School. “This is a truly transformational moment for our school. As we approach our 100th anniversary, the extraordinary generosity allows us to dream bigger for our students and faculty. Their gift not only supports a new heart of campus in the community center that will strengthen the bonds of our Lovett community, but it also lays the foundation for Lovett’s next century of excellence, ensuring our school will continue to thrive and serve students for generations.”

A new heart of campus

Rita Anne Rollins Hall will serve as the centerpiece of Lovett’s evolving campus as a hall designed to bring students, faculty, alumni, and families together. A chapel and assembly space, dining commons, performing arts areas, and collaborative learning zones will encourage connection and creativity. The design reflects Lovett’s commitment to community, innovation, and joy in learning, hallmarks of a Lovett education.

Groundbreaking is anticipated for Fall 2026, with the building’s opening planned for Fall 2028 as part of the school’s long-term campus master plan. The new facility will physically and symbolically unite the Lovett community, providing space for students to worship, perform, dine, and learn under one roof.

Launching the next 100 years

The Rollins Family’s landmark contribution serves as the lead gift for the One Lovett Campaign, an initiative aligned with the school’s mission of educating the whole child. As Lovett approaches its centennial year, the campaign is designed to enhance faculty excellence, expand student opportunities and financial aid, and invest in innovative spaces that support hands-on, real-world learning.
