Headmaster's welcome The 2007-08 school year marks Lovett's 82nd year! The faculty and I feel so blessed to teach in a school with Lovett's distinctive spirit--a spirit inspired daily by the philosophy and genius of our founder, Mrs. Eva Edwards Lovett, a true visionary and educational pioneer. (Please read carefully our philosophy --a beacon for us whose touchstone is Mrs. Lovett's founding vision.) Our philosophy calls those of us at Lovett today to remember that education is about both the individual and the community. We seek to nurture the curiosity and creativity and love of learning of each of our students and at the same time, we work to build a community whose members are committed to the timeless and sustaining principles of integrity, mutual responsibility, empathy, compassion, and service. Lovett is therefore committed simultaneously to the "whole child" and the "whole community" and is concerned first and foremost with sending forth young people of noble character seeking to lead lives of honesty, substance, meaning, and contribution. This inspiring mission, combined with bright and engaging students, talented and dedicated faculty and staff, and caring and supportive parents are powerful forces that in turn create a brand of schooling that challenges us, nurtures us, and humbles us. We hope you will enjoy learning more about our community, our teachers, our students, and our spirit. Sincerely, |

"In my four years as Headmaster, I have developed enormous affection for our students. They care deeply about their school, each other, and the world around them. They overwhelm me and the faculty with their curiosity, their energy, their vitality, their countless ideas and projects, and their determination to make a real difference. They inspire and teach me with a passion for life, experience, and service!" Billy
