Service and citizenship Character formation occurs within community; we seek to become good people because we recognize that our actions and choices affect other people. Therefore, Lovett encourages students to become active, conscientious, and respectful citizens within the Lovett community, as well as within in our larger society. Students in every division learn about their responsibilities as leaders. They have the opportunity to practice the skills of leadership through numerous volunteer organizations, student government, team sports, and in class. Students have the opportunity to serve the community through a number of organizations and service councils at all grade levels. Activities include volunteer work at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, fundraisers for Canine Assistants, and support of reading readiness at Sheltering Arms Day Care Center. In this spirit, Lovett's impact reaches beyond the campus and into the greater Atlanta and world community. The Lovett Volunteer Fundraising Council encourages individuals and groups in their pursuit of service by raising funds and offering grants to support new ideas and projects.
