Marvelous Middle School Math (See Middle School Summer School) Pre-Algebra Introduction/Refresher (See Middle School Summer School) Speed AheadSpeed Ahead is a one-on-one tutoring program for Lovett students in Grades 1–12. Its purpose is to help students strengthen areas in which they might be weak or have some gaps; to maintain skills over the summer; or to strengthen skills needed for a subject the student will take in the fall. Tutoring by qualified Lovett teachers and tutors will be available in most major subjects, as well as in study skills. A minimum of eight one-hour sessions is highly recommended. At the end of the sessions, parents will receive a written report summarizing the student’s work and progress. Lists of Speed Ahead tutors will be available beginning Monday, April 23, from Marcia Sisson. Scheduling will be done directly between the parent and the tutor once the list has been received by the parent.

- Instructor: As arranged

StudyBuddies Live This program features small group instruction that provides rising sixth graders with orientation to the Middle School format (i.e. changing classes, the rotating schedule, greater student accountability); offers the opportunity to review and reinforce basic skills in English, math, and science; and lets students preview sixth grade textbooks and resources such as the StudyBuddies website. Learning is made fun through the use of hands-on materials and games.
Students will cover English skills (summer reading and written expression); math (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals); and science (highlighting, learning vocabulary, graphic organizers, and textbook orientation). Three groups of no more than 10–12 students each will rotate among the three teachers in 40-minute classes targeting strategies to be used within the specific content areas. A written report will be mailed to parents at the end of each session. A morning snack will be provided.
