Types of Giving

As an independent school, Lovett depends on our friends and families for support. There are many opportunities to help. The touchstones of a Lovett education are all made possible through gifts of time, talent, and treasure.

The Annual Fund
The Annual Fund is Lovett's most critical ongoing Advancement effort. Unrestricted gifts help the school meet annual expenses such as faculty salaries, new programs, upgrades in technology, and financial aid. Some gifts to the Annual Fund are given as restricted, meaning the gift is earmarked for a specific department or program. Click here to donate to the Annual Fund online!

Planned Giving
Donations to the school via a trust, annuity, insurance policy, or a bequest.

Endowment
Lovett's "savings account" from which we draw a set percentage of the interest income to support the annual operating budget. The principal remains untouched and grows for the future.

Gifts of Securities and other Assets
Alternative non-cash contributions such as stocks and other appreciated assets, life insurance, and real estate.

Capital
Periodic capital campaigns are held for specific needs, such as facility improvements. Currently, Lovett's capital efforts are focused on investing in Lovett's Strategic Plan: Excellence in Learning, Character & Community. Lovett's new strategic plan, Excellence in Learning, Character & Community, gives priority to three projects:

  • increasing endowment (specifically for faculty support and development, financial aid, and new program initiatives);
  • building a new Middle School (whose roof garden is shown below); and
  • constructing three new athletic fields (baseball, softball, and multipurpose) and their associated facilities.

Other initiatives, including a community center with visual arts and dining facilities and stadium renovations, would follow these initial projects. These initiatives were drawn from the school's planning efforts--a two-year process that involved 150 trustees, administrators, faculty, students, parents, alumni, and friends--that will serve as the basis for our school's future. The plan calls on Lovett's community to pursue excellence and leadership as it recommits to preparing students for college and for life.
