The Lovett Advancement Office includes the Alumni, Community Relations, Communications, and Development Offices and is primarily responsible for five major functions: constituent (alumni, parents, parents of alumni, grandparents, and friends) and public relations; communications and publications; fundraising; assisting with school-wide planning and development; and record keeping related to these areas.

Andy Spencer

Andy Spencer has been at Lovett since 1998. In his role as Chief Advancement Officer, he is responsible for overall management of the Advancement Office, as well as major gifts, new parent campaign, and school planning. An alumnus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Andy stays very active in the advancement community, working on the conference planning committees for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District III and the National Association of Independent Schools, as well as the Atlanta Area Association of Independent Schools Development Officers Planning Committee. In addition to his professional life, he stays active as the father of two current Lovett students and husband of Upper School Dean of Student Life Mary Spencer. He is currently the Lions basketball announcer, and has also taught American Studies and coached Middle School lacrosse. He is no stranger to the world of independent schools, having graduated from Virginia Episcopal School, where he also taught and coached, worked in admissions, and served as director of development.

Kimberly S. Blass

Kim came to Lovett in 1999 after working in marketing communications and editorial positions at several Atlanta-area nonprofits, including the Atlanta History Center, Northside Hospital, and Emory University Hospital-Midtown. At Lovett she is responsible for the overall direction of the school's communication program, including marketing and advertising, electronic media, and strategic planning initiatives relating to the above; she also serves as editor of Lovett: The Lovett School Magazine for Alumni, Parents, and Friends. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she actually uses her American Studies degree--much to her parents' amazement--as co-chair of Lovett's American Studies Institute. She is also a member of the school's Strategic Plan Steering Committee, Campaign Executive Committee, and Diversity Action Committee, and is a former advisor in the Upper School and instructor of Urban Experience. Outside of school, she volunteers with the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District III and Trinity Early Learning Center and is a past member of the UNC Young Alumni Council and the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art Board of Directors.

Taylor joined Lovett in the summer of 2010, after serving as an associate campaign manager for Coxe Curry & Associates, a fund-raising consulting firm located here in Atlanta. Taylor is native to Atlanta and a graduate of The Westminster Schools. As Advancement Manager for Data and Leadership Giving, Taylor is responsible for managing data entry for the database, as well as working closely with the Advancement team on capital campaign related issues, such as managing the Leadership Gifts and Legacy Giving Committees. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a B.S. in psychology. Outside of the office, she enjoys traveling; spending time and playing golf with her husband, Michael; hosting cookouts for friends and neighbors; and playing with her dogs, Chaos and Bogey.

Anne is, quite simply, a Lovett legend. She joined the Lovett faculty in 1969 and in that time has taught Upper School history, religion, and Latin, as well as served as an advisor, cheerleading coach, tennis coach, Model U.N. advisor, class advisor, and National Honor Society sponsor. Since 1985 she has also been Lovett's director of alumni relations where she is responsible for all alumni activities and programs, including Career Night, Run 'n Lovett, the Alumni Annual Fund, Alumni Homecoming Events and Reunions, Out-of-town Reunions, the Alumni Executive Board and Class Representatives, the Alumni Senior Luncheon, and associate editorship of the Lovett magazine. She holds bachelor's degrees in history and secondary education from Louisiana State University and an M.A.T. in history from Georgia State University, and is an alumna of the Isidore Newman School in New Orleans. Outside of Lovett, she has been a board member for the Atlanta Humane Society, JumpStart Your Career, and the Castine Historical Society in Castine, Maine.

Anna joined Lovett in the spring of 2008, but it was more of a homecoming. Anna is a Lovett alumna from the Class of 1997. She works in the Communications Office with responsibility for publications and public and media relations. Anna was previously the Director of Communications at Trinity School, and has prior professional experience in commercial real estate at Colliers International and advertising and marketing at Grey Worldwide. She is a graduate of Washington and Lee University with a B.A. in journalism.

Elizabeth joined Lovett in 2006 after serving in development posts at The Metropolitan Opera and The HealthCare Chaplaincy in New York City. As Director of Annual Giving she plans and executes all Annual Fund activities including cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding Annual Fund prospects and donors, managing volunteer committees, and planning for various special events. She also is a member of Lovett’s Sustainability Committee. She previously served as a coach for JV and 9th Grade Cheerleading. Outside the office, she enjoys traveling, running, and any outdoor activities with her husband, Chris, and their two beagles. She is a graduate of the Spartanburg Day School in South Carolina and has a BA in Communications Studies from Stetson University in Florida.

Kimbrough joined Lovett in the summer of 2010 as Assistant to the Chief Advancement Officer and the Director of Development. Prior to working for Lovett, Kimbrough worked at Frederica Academy, a smaller independent school on St. Simons Island. There she assisted the Upper School Principal, College Counselor, and Director of Admissions. She is a graduate of Hollins University with a B.S. in Psychology. Outside of work she enjoys running, traveling, and spending time with friends, family, and her dog Briggs.

As Lovett's Director of Advancement Services, April is responsible managing the Advancement Services Division while making critical business decisions, with full accountability that involve all aspects of gift processing such as, recording, documentation requirements, receipting, reconciliation, troubleshooting and reporting. She also serves as the liaison between the Business and Advancement Offices, a position she is well-suited for as Lovett's former accounting assistant and student billing representative. In addition, April has coached Lovett's JV cheerleading squad and volunteered at the Lovett auction. She holds a bachelor of science degree from Georgia State University and has volunteered with Hands on Atlanta, the Atlanta Community Food Bank, and Project Open Hand.

Brian came to Lovett in 2010 from the Cannon School in North Carolina, where he was the Director of Advancement and Assistant Head of School. Brian has also spent time in the classroom teaching Upper School English. Prior to his work in independent schools, Brian served as an educational marketing consultant for seven years. As Lovett’s Director of Development, Brian reports directly to the Chief Advancement Officer and is responsible for managing the entire development program and staff, including fundraising and advancement services. Brian is also a member of the school's Campaign Executive Committee. Over the years, Brian has contributed as a presenter and panelist for the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, National Association of Independent Schools, North Carolina Association of Independent Schools, and the Atlanta Area Association of Independent Schools. Most recently, Brian has served as a member of the conference planning committee for CASE District III. An Atlanta native, Brian enjoys spending time with his wife and two young boys and occasionally finds time to travel, write, and surf. He holds an MFA in creative writing from Emerson College and a BA in English from Elon University.

Amanda joined the Lovett staff in the summer of 2010. As Advancement Associate, she assist the Director of Strategic Communications, Director of Annual Giving, and the Director of Advancement Services. Amanda graduated from the University of Georgia in 2008 with a BS in Family and Consumer Science. While in school she began working in development for an Athens based non-profit called Safe Campuses Now. Since moving to Atlanta, Amanda has continued to volunteer in the non-profit sector through the Shepherd Center's Junior Committee. Outside of work, Amanda enjoys playing ALTA tennis, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

There are few parents on the Lovett campus who don't know Sandy. As the staff liaison to the Lovett Parent Association, the editor of the Lovett Directory and Calendar, and the planner of many special events and receptions, she is one of Lovett's chief "go-to" people. Sandy is well prepared for this people-person job, with her bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in group and interpersonal communications; as a former personnel representative for Delta Air Lines; and last but not least, as the parent of several Woodward Academy alums.

Jennifer joined Lovett's Communications Office in 2007, shortly after graduating with a B.S. in journalism from the University of Florida. At Lovett, she is the editor of the Lovett Lines and assistant webmaster and offers general publications assistance. She brings to her position previous experience with The Gainesville Sun as a page designer, The Burlington (Iowa) HawkEye as a sportswriter, and The Independent Florida Alligator as a copy desk chief.
