Grades 1-5

PLEASE NOTE: Applicants must test for Grade 1 if currently in a Kindergarten program and will turn six by September 1, 2009. But if an applicant turns six between March 1, 2009, and August 31, 2009, placement in Kindergarten may be considered. If your child falls in this category and you wish for him or her to be considered for both Kindergarten and Grade 1, please notify the Director of Admission. The Admission Committee's decisions regarding placement are based on developmental needs and what is best for each child.

GRADES 1-5 APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Application submitted along with a $75 nonrefundable application fee (Due: Friday, January 30, 2009)

JATP Test Results: The psycho-educational evaluation, part of the Joint Admissions Testing Program, is a requirement of all applicants to grades 1-5. If you do not reside in Atlanta, please follow these out-of-town Joint Admissions Testing Program guidelines. (Due: Friday, February 20, 2009)

Report Card: A copy of the parents' report card covering last year and the first half of this school year (Due: Friday, February 13, 2009)

Teacher Recommendation Form: An evaluation form completed by your child's current teacher with the request that it be sent directly to The Lovett School Admission Office (Due: Friday, February 6, 2009)

Group Observation: A group evaluation session will be arranged by the Admission Office after we receive the completed application, and you will be notified in writing of your child's scheduled observation time (Due: Friday, February 27, 2009)

An applicant's file cannot be considered if it is incomplete. You will be notified in a timely manner if items are missing from your child's file. The committee members begin reviewing admission files in late February, and the Admission Committee Meetings, by grade level, are held throughout the month of March. All decision letters will be mailed to parents on Friday, April 3, 2009.

Financial Aid
If you wish to apply for financial aid, please indicate so and we will mail a packet of information to you. Admission decisions are made independent of a family's ability to pay the full cost of a child's education. Admitted students are eligible for financial aid based on the family's demonstrated need, and financial aid is made available to students at any grade level.
