Alexandra Jackson '02
A proud native of Atlanta, Alexandra began appreciating music before she could write her own name. At the age of four, Alexandra began what would become ten years of piano lessons. While in the Upper School at Lovett, she was a soloist with Wynton Marsalis at Lincoln Center after Lovett's Ellington Band placed third in the nationwide jazz band competition, Essentially Ellington.
She is a graduate of University of Miami’s prestigious Studio Music and Jazz Vocal program. After graduating in 2006, she created her own company, Rock ‘Em! Entertainment, performed in the Florida Grand Opera’s production of Aida, sang back up for Gloria Estefan in the opening gala for the Carnival Center for Performing Arts in Miami, and sang the National Anthem for Barack Obama’s presidential rally. Alexandra performed at the 2007 Atlanta Montreax Jazz Festival and recently returned from Switzerland, where she competed in the 2008 Montreux Jazz Festival. She currently performs around Atlanta and is a private piano and vocal instructor.
