Communications

The Communications Office is responsible for the school's marketing efforts through advertising; public relations; publications, including Lovett Lines, the Lovett magazine, and advancement and admission materials, such as the annual report and viewbook; and the website. Printing (including school stationery, handbooks, and brochures), graphic design, publication standards, and photography needs are also coordinated through this office. The director of strategic communications oversees this office.

The Communications Office oversees Lovett's publication standards to ensure that all communications carrying the Lovett name and logo make a positive contribution to the institution's image. Each publication produced at Lovett should:

  • meet the high design and editorial standards expected of a quality, educational institution;
  • accurately reflect the character of the institution;
  • not contain information at variance with the school philosophy or established institutional policies; and
  • if appropriate, be reviewed by the Communications Office.

The Communications Office should review and approve all appropriate communications, including electronic, prior to printing/production/distribution. This includes newsletters, magazines, brochures, booklets, pamphlets, posters, notecards, course catalogs/curriculum guides, programs, and invitations.

All faculty, staff, and volunteers who prepare publications are invited to contact the Communications Office for any assistance.

Two publications originate in the Communications Office:

The Lovett Lines newsletter is published nine times a year and is mailed to parents and distributed through interoffice mail for staff. Deadlines for each issue are listed in the Lovett Calendar. The Lines reports on upcoming school activities and deadlines; recognizes outstanding efforts at school by students and faculty; and reinforces the image of Lovett as a school seeking to develop the whole child. While we are proud of all of our students' accomplishments, due to space constraints, Lovett Lines cannot publish news about students' activities outside of Lovett. Lovett Lines does not accept advertising.

Lovett magazine is published in the winter and summer and is mailed to alumni, parents, and other donors and friends. Lovett includes brief highlights of current campus and development news; alumni achievements and accomplishments; updates on major programs and activities at the school; and pieces that emphasize the quality and values of the school. Lovett magazine does not accept advertising.
