Dance

The MS and US Dance Program is taught by Ms. Kadija Johnson, and is designed to introduce many styles of dance to the beginning student. In the 7th and 8th Grade Dance Classes, students are introduced to Swing, Hip Hop, Theater Dance, and Jazz Dance. In the Upper School Dance Class, students learn different aspects of dance: fundamentals of technique (ballet, jazz, and contemporary), history and vocabulary, yoga and nutrition, and the choreographic process, along with Swing, Hip Hop, and Theater Dance. Upper school students also develop their performance quality by participating in the many performance opportunities that include the Hendrix-Chenault Theater for a fall and spring dance concert, school assemblies, chapel services, the Spring Arts Festival, and outdoor performances in the Williams Plaza.

In the Lower School and 6th Grade, after-school dance classes are taught by Ms. Brenda Nieto, where students learn Ballet, Modern, and Jazz movement and also perform in a fall and spring concert.  To register for K-Grade 5 classes, click here, and to register for the Grade 6 dance classes this fall, click here.
