The Women’s Chorus participates in chapel, a fall concert, the Service of Lessons and Carols, the classical concert, and the spring musical. They have performed at Disney World, the Piedmont Driving Club, and the Atlanta Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs. Members of this ensemble participate annually in the GMEA District Five Honor Chorus, as well as the GMEA All-State Chorus. They won Outstanding Choral Group, first place Gold, and the rarely given Adjudicator’s Trophy at the 1991 Music Heritage Festival in New Orleans. They received first place at the 1995, 1996, 1998, 2002, 2004, and 2006 MusicFest Competitions in Orlando. The Women’s Chorus won the 1999 Choral Sweepstakes title in the Southern Star Music Festival and first place Gold in 2000. In 2008, this group earned superior ratings in performance and sight-reading at the GMEA Performance Evaluation, as well as earning a superior rating at Festival Disney, where they placed third among all choirs.
The Men’s Chorus sings for special concerts, chapel services, and competitions. Comprising Upper School males from both mixed choral ensembles, they won first place in their division at the 1995 MusicFest Competition in Orlando, as well as the coveted Grand Championship. They also won first place in their division in the 1996, 1998, 2002, 2004, and 2006 competitions, and second place in the 1998 Grand Championship. The Men’s Chorus won first place Gold in the 2000 Southern Star Music Festival and the Sweepstakes title for the highest score of the festival. In 2008, this group earned superior ratings in performance at the GMEA Performance Evaluation, as well as earning a superior rating at Festival Disney.
The Middle School choirs perform classical concerts for Grandparents/Special Friend Day, the Service of lessons and Carols, a full concert, a spring concert, and the all-school concert. The Seventh and Eighth Grade choirs participate in a spring musical. In spring 2008, all Middle School choirs participated in the GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluation, where they received superior ratings in sightreading. In April 2008, the Eighth Grade Chorus received a gold rating and the Sweepstakes Award at the Southern Star Music Festival. Individual students have been selected to participate in the Spivey Hall Treble Honor Choir, GMEA District Five Honor Chorus, and All-State Chorus.
The Lower School Chorus is a talented and energetic group of fourth and fifth grade students who rehearse once a week after school. They delight audiences with their joyful singing and charismatic stage presence. Throughout the school year they perform at the Festival of Trees, the Lower School Holiday Sing-A-Long, Founder’s Day Chapel, the Lower/Middle/Upper School Choral Concert, the Lower School Talent Show, the Lower School Spring Musical, and the Southern Star Music Festival.
