Severe weather, utility problems, or emergencies may necessitate the closing of the school.
When such closings can be foreseen, an announcement will be made as early as possible. For weather closings, the decision will be made by 6:00 am, if possible, and will be announced through the local news organizations.
Other information sources include the Lovett switchboard at (404) 262-3032, then 2, which will provide an updated recorded message about cancellations and closings; this website; parent and faculty/staff “telephone trees,” which, if necessary, will be activated to rapidly disseminate information; the AlertNow telephone notification system; Twitter (@TheLovettSchool); and e-mail announcements from the school.
When emergency conditions cause the closing of school during the school day, the school will immediately notify parents via those methods listed above. Teachers and administrators will remain with students until safety is assured. If weather conditions outside the immediate school area are of a serious threat, parents from those areas may call in and pick up their children early.
Emergency and crisis procedures have been established. The students in each school division will be informed and drilled in the plans and procedures.
