See the campus

Located on 100 acres on the banks of the Chattahoochee River in northwest Atlanta, The Lovett School campus combines wooded natural beauty with wonderful physical facilities.

Several building projects over the past decade have dramatically changed the face of Lovett's Paces Ferry Road campus, home to the school since 1959. The 1990s brought the addition of the Fuqua Center, home to the Post Theater and other performing arts spaces, as well as the Wallace Gym and Hite Wellness Center and a renovated Alston Memorial Chapel.

In 2000, the school began implementing a new Master Campus Plan, with exciting ramifications for Lovett's buildings and grounds. As part of the Master Campus Plan, a new Upper School and Loudermilk Student Activities Center greeted the community at the beginning of the 2002-03 school year. Located on the site of the school's 1960s-era Student Activities Center (demolished in July 2001), the three-story Upper School features state-of-the-art classrooms, science labs, and faculty resource centers. Sharing this building with the Upper School is the new Loudermilk Student Activities Center -- home to the Glover Gymnasium, Bookstore and Campus Shop, a student lounge, and the Lions Den Cafe -- serving as a community center for Lovett's students.

In Fall 2003, a new Lower School was built on the site of the old Lower School (razed in June 2002). The school is separated into early childhood, primary, and elementary divisions. Centrally located resource classrooms serve each division and facilitate cross-curriculum planning. A new Dorothy Floyd Library, Pope Gymnasium, and art and science centers are included in this new facility.

In Summer 2008, construction is expected to commence on a new 75,000-square-foot Middle School. The school is seeking LEED certification for the building, indicating construction with strong sustainability standards in mind. More improvements to athletic facilities and a new community center for fine arts and dining will also follow in the years to come.

Other facilities on campus include Kilpatrick Stadium, Mathis Field, Denny Field, and several other athletic fields and tennis courts; Loridans House, home to the headmaster; Physical Plant Operations (the former Martha Woolman Hall), with warehouse space and a motor pool; greenhouses; and a parking deck.
