Lovett's strength and conditioning program is one of the tools given to athletes to help them excel in their sports. Resistance training for injury prevention and improved performance is an important part of the Lovett athletic experience and is maintained in both in-season and off-season programs. Full-time staff members working out of the school's Hite Wellness Center (which includes a weight room, a wellness room, and a training room) ensure that Lovett students are better prepared, have more strength, and are at less risk for injury.
Philosophy of the Program
At Lovett, we strive to help athletes reach their fullest potential through hard work, recognizing that proper training methods and great effort can lead to outstanding achievement.
Always be positive! No matter what circumstances life brings your way, deal with it in an adult manner and go on. No matter what any coach asks of you, do it with maximum effort.
Goals of the Program
-
Positive experiences by all athletes in developing athletic attributes, toughness, discipline, and character.
-
Respect
-
Win! Put the physical attributes developed to use in competition.
The goal of this program is to help each athlete be the best competitor that he or she can be in their sport, as opposed to making them into a bodybuilder, power lifter, or Olympic lifter. This program is designed to develop the physical attributes to meet the specific demands of the sport. Success of the program will be measured by a battery of tests specific to the goals of the program and by performance in competition.
