    David was a member of Lovett's first Ellington Band to be invited to perform as part of the Essentially Ellington competition at Jazz at Lincoln Center, and it was in Lovett's AP Music Theory Class where he found the spark for what would become a very successful career as a composer.

    Randy Wright '06 and Charlie Timberlake '06

    Randy Wright '06 and Charlie Timberlake '06 recently completed a 2,179-mile thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine in honor of Lovett student Cam Street, who lost his battle with cancer in 2009. Randy and Charlie were in Lovett's Scout Troop 304 with Cam, and they were hiking to raise money for three causes that are near to all their hearts: CURE Childhood Cancer, the National Eagle Scout Association Scholarship Fund, and The Lovett School Troop 304 Scout Activity Center construction.     Tom Douglas ’71 is a widely respected and successful songwriter. His most recent number-one song, “I Run to You,” sung by Lady Antebellum, won the 2009 Country Music Award Single of the Year. And at the Grammy Awards ceremony in January 2010, Lady Antebellum’s performance of “I Run to You” was honored as the Best Country Performance of the Year by a Duo or Group.

    Wes Gordon '05, a graduate of the Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design in London, interned with Oscar de la Renta and worked with Tom Ford before launching his own fashion line, based in New York City. His first collection debuted in February 2010 for the upcoming fall season. Positive reviews of his designs have appeared in The New York Times, WWD, Vogue, and more.

  • John Allman '75

    John Allman ’75 recently assumed the responsibility as the 29th head of Trinity School in New York City, after 11 years as headmaster of St. John’s School in Houston, Texas. Trinity is a co-educational, K-12 school founded in 1709 and now celebrating its 300th anniversary—making it the oldest continuously operating institution in the city. Prior to his position at St. John’s, John had been Lovett Upper School Principal for four years, from 1994 to 1998.
