The Upper School faculty seeks to foster in our students the knowledge and intellectual skills necessary to respond to the complex problems of our world. Students are challenged in their assignments to bring together insights from disparate disciplines. Advanced Placement courses offer students opportunity to pursue rigorous college-level study.
Technology is a vital resource through which students discover, investigate, solve problems, and pursue original ideas. Yet even as Lovett embraces technology, the Upper School remains a community of active learners who do not lose sight of the essential value of thoughtful, personal interaction between student and teacher.
An extensive library website, through which students and faculty can access the library holdings and other text-based resources, enhances the research process by allowing students to start work outside of the library. Lovett believes, however, that a successful approach to research incorporates the best of traditional and technological methods, and that these paths are not mutually exclusive.
