An independent, coed K-12 day school in Atlanta

lower school

The Lower School is a place that fosters children’s innate sense of curiosity, play, and wonder, as positive energy and warmth permeates our hallways and classrooms. Opening any door unveils communities full of possibility, discovery, and love. Students’ days are filled with exploration and risk-taking as they unearth their greater purpose and embark on a journey toward lifelong learning.

Our primary approach is to support students toward becoming critical thinkers, creative agents, effective communicators, and purposeful collaborators. Throughout a typical week, students engage in a wide variety of classes and learning experiences that help them cultivate a strong, well-rounded foundational base. Our teachers strive to nurture and model a growth mindset and help students to embrace multiple perspectives and grow as empathetic leaders.

"The Lower School is a formative time for the holistic development of young children. With this in mind, Lovett anchors healthy relationships—between students and teachers, among peers, and between parents and educators—at the heart of our daily work. Our strong belief in a positive family-school relationship built on trust and open communication creates the conditions that allow our students to thrive in learning and in life."

Community Experience

The annual Fall Festival, one of the Lower School’s most beloved traditions, takes place around Halloween. While wearing their costumes, students participate in numerous fun activities, including crafts, cookie decorating, carnival games, field day competitions, face painting, a scavenger hunt, and an inflatable obstacle course. Parent volunteers organize much of the festival and serve hot chocolate, popcorn, snow cones, and cotton candy to students.
