Two primary elements of the Lower School learning environment are the sensitivity of teachers to differences in students' individual learning styles and the active involvement of students in their own learning. The curriculum offers essential instruction in reading, writing, math, science, social studies, fine arts, Bible/religion, physical education, Spanish, and French. Children are constantly "doing," whether they are measuring in math, working as a team in the science labs, or creating and selling their own product in economics. To provide greater student-teacher interaction, class sizes are small with an assistant teacher in each room.
