ASAP Staff

Christian Young is a native Atlantan who graduated from Wesleyan School and earned a B.A. degree from Auburn University in Communications with a minor in Spanish. While at Auburn, Christian was active in service organizations and spent her summers as a junior staff counselor at Sea Island and as an intern for a Georgia senator on Capitol Hill. Upon college graduation, Christian was a resource coordinator for an international non-profit, Childspring International, and most recently spent a year volunteer teaching through World Teach in the Marshall Islands. This is her second year as the Director of ASAP and Camp Lovett. Christian also works as Mission Trip Coordinator for Service Learning at Lovett.
 

Brett Alberty grew up in Milwaukee, Wis., and graduated from Luther College in Iowa with a degree in Political Science and Education. He has recently completed his masters in Education. He is an assistant fourth grade teacher with Brianne Smyth. Brett has been with the ASAP program for three years. “Mr. A” can often be found playing basketball and football with the children on the playground.

Blanca Lamis has been part of the Lovett family for 24 years as a parent and employee. She has had three children attend Lovett for 14 years each. Blanca is currently employed as a Lovett school nurse and works in the afternoon a few days a week in ASAP.

William H. Lam grew up in Atlanta and is currently attending Kennesaw State University majoring in Business. He has been with ASAP for six years and has currently taken on a new role of teaching karate during afternoon enrichments. Will enjoys working with students, as well as participating in sport activities.

Mallory Costen graduated from Lovett in 2002 after attending for 14 years. She went to Georgia State University and graduated with a BA degree in History. Currently, Mallory is working on a master in Heritage Preservation. If not in the Lower School, Mallory can be found in the Middle School visiting her mother, seventh grade English teacher, Pat Costen. Mallory is excited to return for her second year as a member of the ASAP team.

John Downey grew up in Augusta, Georgia before graduating from Covenant College in 2005. He has lived in Atlanta for six years and currently is the Director of Girls Academy program at Atlanta Youth Soccer Association. He plans to assist with the Lovett Middle School girl's soccer team again this spring and returns to help with the ASAP program for his third year. He carries his soccer experience to the ASAP playground and always keeps things fun around the halls of the Lower School.

Preston Jenks grew up in Atlanta and is 2006 Lovett alum. She graduated from Auburn University, earning a degree in Elementary Education. In the mornings she teaches at Peachtree Presbyterian Church Preschool and currently attends Georgia State for a masters degree in Elementary Education. This is Preston’s second semester working in ASAP. Her experience and training contribute greatly to the after school program.

Emily Trenney grew up in Indiana, Penn. She attended Indiana University and earned a degree in Early Elementary Education. This is Emily’s first year as an assistant third grade teacher with Douglas Mogle. In the afternoons she is found on the playground with the ASAP children. Emily is a great addition to the staff. Her favorite activities include relay races and arts and crafts.
