Research by neurologists and other professionals confirms that children learn in many different ways. Understanding and addressing these differences makes The Lovett School more effective in preparing students to become successful, independent learners. Consistent with this research, the Academic Resource Center reflects awareness of differences in children's learning styles as they pursue the school's rigorous college preparatory curriculum. The Academic Resource Center supports currently enrolled students through three programs:
Learning Specialist Program
A student with a diagnosed learning difference may be referred for help in time management, study skills, and other learning strategies, as well as for academic tutoring.
Tutoring
Program
A student experiencing academic difficulty may be referred for additional tutoring in a specific discipline.
Learning Styles
Students are administered a learning styles inventory that addresses 21 aspects of learning preferences. By analyzing the results, students are able to become more effective and efficient learners.
